Heisman
Trophy winner Ron Dayne - Unplugged
by Jordan Mamorsky
Ron
Dayne rumbled and tumbled over opponents during his college football career,
much like his role model, John Riggins (Washington Redskins) did in the
NFL. His outstanding prowess at the running back position in college enabled
him to rush for the most yardage in college football history. This 1999
Heisman Trophy winner brings his incredible skills and passion for the
pigskin to the New York Giants who are in desperate need of a consistent
runner.
In an interview TeenSpeak did with Dayne at Giants Stadium, he told us
that he hopes to follow up his tremendous college career with an equally
memorable career in the National Football League. For Ron, however, there
are some major differences between playing college ball and playing in
the Pros. According to Dayne, the hardest thing about playing professional
football is learning the plays and getting used to the different atmosphere
in professional football where playing the game is a job you are paid
to do. "Especially coming from college, where everybody is team,
team, team, and you lose, you've got guys crying or mad. But, it's like,
in the pros, you lose, you've got another game next week. "Ron Dayne
proved what kind of mettle he was made of, when he didn't hold out for
more money, wanting to be on time for Giants' training camp. His obvious
love of the game, his desire to be a member of a team distinguishes him
from many other players. It is also clear that #27 will play with great
capability and a lot of heart for the Giants this season. What follows
is an interview with this college phenom who discusses how the Giants
will beat the Washington Redskins, his training routine, NFL draft day,
and whether or not the Giants will ever reach their ultimate goal, The
Super Bowl.
