TEENSPEAK: How does it feel to be the first Heisman Trophy winner ever to play for the Giants?

DAYNE: Well, I never really thought about that you know. First time I heard it was when I got picked. A lot of people said - how does it feel - I guess the same way it feels being picked by the Giants 11th pick - I just felt good about being picked by the Giants.

TEENSPEAK: Because of your overwhelming accomplishments playing for Wisconsin, what are the expectations the Giants have of you - are they unreasonable?

DAYNE: No-at home people put a lot of expectations on me. I love going out to play football. So no, I don't mind people putting expectations on me.

TEENSPEAK: What kind of expectations has the team placed on you?

DAYNE: Well, just hearing people say now we'll have a better running game. Hopefully, we will get to the playoffs, this is all because they have got me. But you know, I don't mind, I'll go out and hopefully help the team win, do anything it takes.

TEENSPEAK: What goals have you set for yourself to accomplish this year?

DAYNE: Well, I haven't set my goals yet. I won't do that until I get to camp and sit down and have some time to think all football, and then I'll be able to do my goals and things.

TEENSPEAK: Do you have any idea what you might want?

DAYNE: Just be healthy for 16 games. That's my main goal, just be healthy and help the team to win.

TEENSPEAK: How hard was it for you to watch the NFL draft not knowing when you would be picked? Were you anticipating the Giants to pick you?

DAYNE: Well, it wasn't hard. I was with my daughter, playing with her. It was like the first running back got picked and then the second one. Everybody started coming up - I was upstairs playing with my daughter - Everybody was saying they are on the 10th pick, and then I heard the phone ring, and they told me Œphone for you Ron.¹ I ran down and got the phone.
