Teen People Celebrates Leaders of Tomorrow

Most teens only dream of the possibility of meeting celebrities. Teens have been known to wait outside a Dave Matthews concert in hopes of catching a glimpse of the band members, or they explore popular sites like Planet Hollywood where celebrities are known to frequent.

On January 31, 2001, I found myself on a TeenSpeak assignment, standing in an open banquet room in the Time Life Building in New York City. Press were everywhere, ready with their spotlight video cameras and tape recorders, anxiously awaiting an interview with the twenty teens chosen by Teen People Magazine as the ones who will change the world Surprisingly, TeenSpeak represented the only teen journalists at the event.
