At Ailey's school, she took West African dance and ballet classes. "I danced a lot of manjani (tribal west african dance) which is when you dance to the beat of a drum. It's very fast moving," Courtney said. "Ailey offers so many different styles of dance. You can learn so much from just one class," she added.

You might be thinking, "How does this devoted dance lover have any time for school? That's easy for Courtney, who also admits to having a serious interest in science. "School for me is no problem because I just do my homework in study hall or on the subway! I would describe myself as a very disciplined and devoted girl." You can say that again! Courtney doesn't have big dreams about becoming a star dancer just yet. "I want to finish high school and get into a good college before I worry about making dance a career. For now, it's just something I do for fun!" But who knows? Maybe in ten years you will find Courtney Giannone dancing "centerstage!"
