Singing To The Beat Of Her Own Song

by Victoria Stockman

Watch out Britany Spears! Move aside Christina! A new star has arrived on the scene. Willa Ford has the moves, the voice and the talent to put some tension in the atmosphere! This twenty year old is an amazing singer that has what it takes to be a star. What makes her different from the average teenie bopper singer? She writes her own songs, and tells the truth in them.

Willa exudes real girl power with something new. Her songs are a little more daring and bad girlish. She is one of the few artists who finds talent from within herself rather than from a production application. Her songs reveal truths about teenage life - what really goes on. Willa’s mission is to express not the sugar coated life experience, but what a girl really feels inside.

Her mother, a classical pianist set the stage for what Willa always knew would inspire her most. As a girl entering her teenage years, she studied opera. Enhancing her range as a singer, and providing her with technique benefitting her career, Willa is able to fool many listeners to believe that her incredible voice range is not a computer special effect. In fact, in her "Ooh Ooh" song, audiences frequently mistake her voice for technology, but in reality, it is her doing what she does best.

Life without weekends, proms, and typical teenage fun was Willa’s commitment to her music since she was thirteen years old. Clearly her dedication has paid off. Willa is a straightforward young woman who knows what she wants, and is willing to work hard to achieve the pinnacle of success. Having created her own treatment for her music video, Willa says that she can visualize a dance routine in her head, and then can perform it.

This rising star is definitely different from all other pop stars. "If you speak your mind, and you are honest with yourself, you can be honest with your peers," she told TeenSpeak. "It is wonderful to hear a song about something you have experienced before, and to find the solution in your music," she added. Her music inspires many teens to be true to their passion. "Do what you want to do," she says, "because if you don’t, you’ll never be happy and you’ll never be true to yourself."
