A Difference Between
the West and the East
In Pakistan, one can find a lot of these cabs, which are run with motor bikes. This picture shows one of those cabs, which is called a rickshaw. To me, this motor bike rickshaw shows the huge diffference in the standard of living between the West and the East.

One is of the most dangerous road in the world (note the beautiful green mountains and the tiny little dirt road), one of the Afro-Bolivian dancers, one of me dancing along with the Afro-Bolivian dancers, one of the women weaving along a cliff in Isla Taquile, and one of the old grandfather who is the priest as well as the traditional healer.

Cooking In Pakistan
Cooking for large groups in Pakistan could be a problem unless you had some "daigs." Food that is cooked in a daig actually tastes amazing. While I don't think Americans cook in daigs, they are really missing something special - I love food that is cooked in a daig.
Daigs are used to cook traditional spicy Middle Eastern foods that usually have a lot of curry. Sometimes rice is cooked in a daig. Huge amounts of food can be cooked in a daig and, trust me, whatever is cooked, tastes great.

Dispelling The Myth
News about the Middle East might give a perception that countries like Pakistan are very backward; that the majority of population is illiterate.
This may come as a shock, but people in Pakistan are neither backward nor illiterate. We, too have big colleges, universities and libraries.
This picture is of a library. A student is looking through different international magazines, reading about international politics!
Pictured left is the library at Government College University. Other prestigious colleges in Pakistan include Lahore University for Management Sciences, Agha Khan, Quaid-e-Azam, and Punjab Universities.
