Wow. Walter told me you wrote this, but I am very impressed. You were very astute and to the point. You never pussyfooted around any of this. While I agree with your assessment, I am over the UN. I would totally support this if any other entity was controlling it.

Corruption is rampant in the government of the modern era. It seems to me that our law makers forget the example our founding fathers left us. When George Washington took office he was in huge amounts of debt. He was slated to make more than enough money to pay off those debts while he was in office, but his first executive order was him waving his salary. Today's politicians are, for the most part, power hungry ego maniacs who forget that government is bound by an invisible yet all important social contract. This contract in its essence, states that government obtains its authority from the consent of the people, and that in return, the government must be held accountable for its actions by the people.

I believe that the single most effective reform against corruption in government (at least in the US) would be to make all high level government positions unpaid. Today's politician is independently wealthy, and the pay is peanuts in comparison to what is already in their bank accounts. While this may be mostly symbolic, I believe that it would deemphasize the "self-serving ways" of corrupt politicians and bring back to the table the idea that being part of government is supposed to be self sacrificial.

The solution to the problem of corruption will come when the "silent majority" takes their place supporting candidates who believe in Locke's social contract theory. Candidates who believe that they are in Washington to help the people of the USA, and not themselves.

Here’s a word that goes hand-in-hand with corruption: Hypocrisy.

“Hypocrisy is the state of pretending to have beliefs, opinions, virtues, feelings, qualities, or standards that one does not actually have. Hypocrisy involves the deception of others and is thus a kind of lie.”

Corruption is allowing a 16 year old girl to write a report on her experience dealing with the topic and having it published. Hypocrisy is believing what that girl wrote.

Excellent interview with Allan Houston. He spoke with clarity on the issues and concerns with professional athletes, leagues and society I agree with Allan on the role of fathers, mentors, family and caring people. I also agree Support system is important I applaud Allan for being a model as a former player, current Executive and national leader.

I purchased and read Dr. Wynters book on Surviving in a toxic free world and am impressed with the clarity, vision and complex insights reduced to a very understandable level which makes this volume stand out. One chapter discusses "alkaline water" which is being heavily promoted by aggressive marketing companies, to the detriment of public health. Dr. Wynter's book takes on what is wrong with this technology and backs up her statements with factual research. Kudos for this landmark volume, which has set a new standard for years to come.
